Solar Cookers International
(SCI) in Sacramento, California is a mostly volunteer organization,
and the spread of solar cooking is basically people-to-people.
That's why you can make a difference in many ways. Thanks in
advance for doing your part.
" SUN OVENS International,
Inc. is striving to develop and implement comprehensive solar
cooking programs that will radically decrease the developing
worlds dependence on fuel wood and dung as the primary cooking
fuels while benefiting the environment, raising the standard
of living and improving the health of the poor worldwide. "
" New thermal barrier fabric
and radiant heating products keep your home cooler in summer and
warmer in winter.
The high cost to keep your home cooler in summer and warmer in
winter is now much more affordable with the recent introduction
of four new passive low-cost radiant thermal products available
from ClearDome Solar Systems." ... more
"The dual aim of the
SCC is first, to provide a decision instrument for the BMZ (German
Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development) and
potential partner institutions in developing countries and second,
to serve as a basis for designing and implementing future projects.
Thus, the SCC shows under which conditions solar stoves are
viable products to effectively respond to the challenge of energy
scarcity. Viability will be measured in commercial terms, i.e.
eventual manufacture and marketing of solar stoves without subsidies.
This is the criterion for sustainability of future projects
promoting solar cooking.
The SCC is based on the experience gained in implementing the
Solar Cooker Pilot Program in South Africa. In doing so, it
provides a comprehensive account of this program, starting from
the project idea all the way to the final assessment of the
achievements upon its termination. It illustrates:
- Why solar stoves have been selected as a meansto fight energy
scarcity of households? - What have been the key activities
of the program? - How have they been implemented? - What were
the achievements and the lessons learned? " ... more
